Jackie Coursey (Registered Midwife)

Jackie Coursey

Congratulations for embarking on this journey into motherhood for maybe first or tenth time. Thank you for considering Rata Midwives to take that journey with you.

My passion for midwifery began through my own experience of becoming a mother to my two boys who are now teenagers.  I was, and still am, fascinated by the physiology of pregnancy and birth and the things that support the mind body connection in these spaces. I believe pregnancy and birth is a significant yet normal life event and supporting normal birth is what keeps my fire burning for this profession.  I support and encourage women to trust their body’s natural ability in pregnancy and labour, whilst being watchful for when things move outside of the norm, offering referrals to other health professionals if recommended.

I have been a midwife since 2014, taking pleasure in working alongside women, creating a unique plan of care through providing information and options, listening to your needs and acknowledging current research.  There are many parenting decisions ahead and I am passionate about providing information and options so that your decisions are informed ones.

I provide care for women choosing to birth at home or a birthing unit/primary maternity hospital (Lincoln or St George’s), including waterbirth. I support birth at Christchurch Women’s Hospital only when medically recommended. I have a clinic on Manchester St, St Albans on Tuesday afternoons 1pm-5pm or in Halswell on mostly Mondays and Wednesdays.

If you want to find out more mention my name on the message part of our contact us form. I look forward to hearing from you.
